vokkaab: this band is so fucking good. 2011-2012 is seemingly turning into the Year All Or Mostly Female Hardcore Bands Broke and it rules so hard. the day I saw Hysterics in SF I also saw No Statik, Displeasure, and Arctic Flowers; last month my band played with Shoppers, Sick Fix, and Population (the latter of whom are not hc, but are great).   i’m kind of tempted to think someone should do a comp to capture this moment; as a female musician & critic I basically live to oppose the whole WOMEN OF ROCK reductionism that affects most music writing/thinking, and am all for the whole a musician is a musician is a musician identity, and i realize it’s a little bit of a problematic idea. i just think it would sound like a celebration. a loud, fast one. vbdbct: Hysterics This stuff warms my heart. I love being in this band and it has helped me feel so empowered to do anything I want.
